07 Sep The bigness of the fellow within.
Think back to the last time you had something to eat. What did you tell your body to do with the food that you chewed then swallowed? Well if you are like me, you didn't tell your body anything because you didn't have to-It all happened automatically.
However, the worker bees within you were going overtime to get the job done. The following events all need to happen after eating.
- Food gets pushed into the stomach by a wave like motion called peristalsis.
- Stomach produces acid starting to break down the food
- Food moves into the small intestine and nutrients from the food gets absorbed and utilised by the body
- Food enters the large intestine and the waste products of the "once swallowed" food gets compressed and formed into faecal matter
- Waste remnants of what was once your food gets expelled out. (Whilst reading the paper, if you are male)
The amazing thing is that all of those actions occur with zero conscious educated intelligence. The entire process is conducted seemingly on automatic by your central nervous system and specifically your "innate intelligence".......that is the intelligence that is inside even the "dumbest" person you know (Not PC, but I wrote that anyway!)
So what is Innate intelligence aka as just Innate.
Innate is the inbuilt autopilot that lies inside you.
The self regulating, self correcting, satellite navigation system for your life. Your brain is the control centre keeping your internal functions happening correctly. The mental impulses that your brain emits connect the dots within the body and always thrive to maintain you in safety and health. How cool is that! Pretty well no matter what you do , your innate intelligence is trying its best to help you survive and hopefully thrive.
So, the bigness within, is that there is a bigger organisation and co-ordination within than what most people think. One of the foundational premises of chiropractic is that the wellbeing of your spine effects the transmission of the mental impulse. Hence chiropractic has a role to play in homeostasis, balance, self regulation and self healing. For over 20 years I have been advocating the benefits of having a healthy spine regardless of how you feel, and if anything I see even more examples of the benefits of this as life gets busier and more stressful for most.
